| The Public Works building would be constructed on a site southeast of the Winsted Fire Hall on McLeod County Road 1. The proposed building would be 8,480 sq. ft., with a mezzanine of 720 sq. ft. for additional storage. The building would be of steel frame construction, with the first four feet of the building using concrete panels set on their side to protect the perimeter of the building.
The facility would have 12 interior parking stalls for equipment and vehicle storage, as well as a mezzanine to be used for storing street banners, holiday decorations and other miscellaneous items. The layout of the building uses a two-door access system with vehicles entering from the south and exiting on the north side of the building. In addition, an area for outdoor storage is available on the east side of the property. Access for the site would be gained through the fire hall parking lot, which would be maintained and improved, if necessary, to accommodate increased traffic. The estimated cost for Fall 2006 construction, including contingencies and architectural fees, is $660,000.
