| The project is centered around a City Hall or “City Center” that would be constructed on the shores of Winsted Lake on the existing Public Works Garage site and the adjacent lot to the south. The location builds on the findings made during the Design Team visit, which indicated that Winsted Lake was one of the greatest assets of the community. You will find that the renderings, in the pages to follow, use Winsted Lake as the symbolic centerpiece of our community and a destination for those in the area. The City Hall includes space for the Police Department, Administration, Council Chambers and a large community room with a view of Winsted Lake. The City Hall features architectural design that calls attention to the lake’s natural amenities, which are built upon further through a Lakefront Promenade stretching down to Mill Reserve Park. The Lakefront Promenade includes plaza areas, several walkways, plantings and other landscape features, culminating with a mini-amphitheatre and performance areas in Mill Reserve Park. In order to facilitate the City Hall and Lakefront Promenade projects, the Public Works facility would be relocated on a site southeast of the Winsted Fire Hall on McLeod County Road 1. |
