The Winsted Police Department has its office located with the other city offices, in the downtown Winsted area.
The department consists of a chief, three full-time police officers, four reserve officers, and several part-time police officers; which helps provide the city with nearly 21 hours of active police services a day.
The chief and the other three full-time police officers have over 55 years of combined police experience and are EMT-trained, to help better serve the public.
This department is very active in both the Winsted (Public) Elementary School and Holy Trinity Schools such as providing safety talks as needed, conducting an annual bike safety talk and rodeo, and the teaching of the DARE program to students.
One of the biggest challenges that we face as department each year is providing or the scheduling of police services for Winstock. Winstock is a two-day country music event held within our city, which draws over 12,000 people a day.
Our department works very closely with the McLeod County Sheriff's Department to help provide this needed police services for Winstock and other local events.
If you have any questions about or department, or any other services provided, please give us a call at 320-485-2600.
